The Senior Board is the group of students in the current senior class responsible for the planning and execution of the Baccalaureate Ceremony, Senior Class Gift, Senior Week, and other senior social events. The Senior Board is typically comprised of 25-45 students; these students are often ones that have been actively involved in campus life during their years at WPI.
The Senior Board is comprised of four committees each with a staff advisor. The Senior Board has a chairperson whom oversees the chairs of each committee and works with the advisors. Connie Peppes is the advisor to the 2006 Senior Board.
The Baccalaureate Committee is responsible for planning the Baccalaureate Ceremony which is held the evening before Commencement. The committee solicits talent for participation in the ceremony: speakers, musicians, and artists. They arrange for a keynote speaker. The committee is also responsible for the selection of the student speaker for Commencement.
Senior Class Gift Committee
The Senior Class Gift Committee is responsible for the education of seniors of the lifelong importance of giving back to WPI beginning during their senior year. The committee chooses a gift to the school and raises funds from the senior class for the gift and the WPI Annual Fund. The committee is typically responsible for organizing a kickoff event which is the first official, exclusive, senior event of the final semester.
Senior Social Committee
The Senior Social Committee is responsible for planning social activities for the senior class during their last semester at WPI. Typical events include 100 and 50 days to graduation celebrations. This committee works closely with the other committees.
Senior Week Committee
The Senior Week Committee is responsible for planning Senior Week. Senior Week occurs the week immediately preceding Commencement and is a laid back, social week for seniors to have fun. Past events have included trips to Boston, Foxwoods, the Pawtucket Red Sox, and nights out in Worcester.
